Endless Mode · UN Tourism arrivals, 2023
Country Tourism Quiz
Tourism here is measured in international arrivals per year, the standard UN Tourism statistic. France has long been the world's most-visited country with around 100 million annual arrivals — almost more tourists than residents. Spain is second, the United States third, China and Italy round out the top five.
The undertourist countries
Niue, Tuvalu, and Kiribati each see under three thousand tourists a year — fewer than a single cruise ship docking. North Korea reports under ten thousand. Bhutan caps visitors with a daily sustainable tourism fee. Saudi Arabia opened to tourism in 2019 and has been growing arrivals at over 50% a year. The Caribbean punches far above its weight: tiny Aruba has more annual arrivals than Belgium.
